End of summer slowdown and antimony trioxide prices are rocketing upwards again. Many minor metals were little changed over the past week as traders looked ahead to increased volumes in September, after the summer slowdown reaches its end. Traders said trading volumes have been subdued as many factories close for the summer holiday season, with business due to pick up around late August or September. "It is very quiet still," said one trader.

"We are in the last part of the holidays now. You are starting to see a bit of ready for the fourth quarter." The trader added, "People feel we are heading towards better times as demand comes back." Bucking the overall trend, antimony ANT-LON grade 99.65, used as a fire-proofing ingredient, rose to a fresh three-month high at about $9,350 a tonne from $9,325 a tonne last week. The silvery-white metal soared to a record high at $9,550 a tonne in early May after am environmental and health and safety. "My guess is that Chinese are going to ratchet this up, and it\'ll probably go to $12,000." said one trader. You really have to fight to buy 20 tonnes. This is a joke. We used to buy 100-tonne lots. "My feeling is that in September they will start to buy material," the trader added. "If you look at charts over the last few years, always September/October prices increase."
